Equipment used for equine dentistry has developed enormously in recent years, from manual hand rasps to motorised burrs.  The motorised equipment has many benefits including a decrease in treatment time, leaving a better surface on the tooth after treatment and being less exhausting for both the practitioner and the patient.  However manual rasps still have a part to play in the treatment of equine dental disorders and personally I find a mixture of both manual and motorised equipment provides the best overall dental care for the horse.
